Good luck finding one too! I've been lucky to find one recently plus it was a bonus that it came in the same colour as my car. Can't wait to put it on.

Yeah thanks. Watched your WTB for one of the spoilers and more recently your posts on how you are going to fit it. Couldn't believe you got one in the right colour!! Gotta get lucky sometimes

Reckon I'll take the easy (though pricey) way out and drop down to my local body shop and get them to fit mine when I eventually get one. If needed, they can also respray it. Might even get them to touch up the rest of the paint - quite a few chips on the front of the bonnet and over the front bumper...

Some goodies arrived :)

Image

Having searched for the centre caps for my 16" wheels and found the ridiculous prices for them, I found these on ebay. Wasn't certain about the quality or how they will look being chrome, but worked out less than a third of the price!!

I have these same I.L.Motorsport pedal covers in my NA and love them. Look great, feel great, fit perfect and good value. Had to have them in my NB...

OK ... so a nice day in Adelaide today to work on cars

Grabbed a 12v impact wrench from a mate to get those pesky seat bolts out ...

Image

Seriously good tool! Could not budge those bolts the other day, with this I had the bolts out in about 2 minutes!!

Removed the wind deflector and seats and looks like been a while since had a good vacuum ...

Image

Photo doesn't do the amount of dirt justice. Carpets had a sticky white substance on them ... ...

Spent ages vacuuming and cleaning, then removed my 8B seats from Mexie and swapped over all the runners. Also swapped the wind deflectors around ...

Image

By now, my back is killing me  but not beaten yet. Can't stop until these done ...

Image

As usual, the domino effect comes in to play. While under the dash fitting the pedals, noticed this ...

Image

Looks like clutch master cylinder leaking :? Googled and found some "how to's" and looks like a pretty easy job to replace, so may as well give it a try. Be another new experience for me mechanically speaking :D

Oh yeah, and also fitted the wheel caps and for the price I'm very happy! Fit perfectly and the chrome finish looks great on the wheel!!

Image

So apart from the clutch leaking, was a very satisfying day ...

Well .... I do have a new Pioneer BT stereo on it's way ... and ... need to fix that clutch leak :? ... and ... need a grille to protect the radiator ... and ... seriously need a decent clock that I can actually read ... and ...

I do still have my BC coilovers in the wings ...

I don't think I'll mess with Mexie much more. I spent too much time building that car from the mess it was to what it is now. I'm hoping we can keep the NA so that myself, my wife and my son can enjoy it whenever we want to. It's such a different drive compared to the NB. Time will tell. If not, I hope I can find someone who properly appreciates it ...

Decided to pull out the instrument panel this morning to see why I have no warning lights ... and all the bulb fittings were missing :(

I had plenty of spares from my NA dash lighting escapades, so I fitted them in and also did the high beam mod (this is an 8B instrument panel in an 8A).

Plugged everything back in. Yay!! ... all lights on with ignition and the high beam light works ... but ... on engine start up, the airbag warning light continues flashing (6 flash code), and the battery warning light comes back on after about 10 seconds or so after starting and doesn't go out :? New battery was fitted a couple of weeks prior to me purchasing the car and haven't had any low battery issues. I removed the airbag bulb, but left the battery bulb in. Will have to get auto electrician to check things out for me.

Now I know why the bulbs had been removed

with the airbag warming light, check the conection in the glove box area for the passenger bag. From memory you have to take the glovebox out (easy as) and you will see a white connector coming our from the airbag.
Just give it a push together and make sure it secure.

I had the same problem in my NB and yeah it was just a loose connection from the back of the Passenger AB

Been following you story with interest KevGoat. Cant wait to see the outcome re what you do with Mexie! I have a much modded (but still NA) 1.6 and an immaculate 30000 k NA 1.8. Not an NB but getting close it it. Like the NB it is all over the 1.6 as a cruiser but as a fun car (IMO) you cant beat the 1.6 with the mods you have (lightened flywheel and P/S makes it even more fun). Of course the NA is still the best looking of MX5's once again IMO. I had planned on selling the 1.8 and boosting the 1.6 but at the moment cant part with either and just alternate the rego every 6 months. What a luxury!
NB SE, NA 1.8.

Checked the passenger side - all plugs felt tight. So decided to take the steering wheel apart ...

Image

Hmmmm .... looks like I have my problem ... the wires have been cut

I'd say someone had another wheel on and cut the plug off the end to tuck the cables away.

Not sure if any power in these (had the battery disconnected) but grabbed some insulation tape & taped the ends off before putting things back together.

Need to find a plug and work out which wire goes where, so I'll post in the "Audio, Electronics & Lighting" section for some help and also see if anyone has a plug.

Just quick update ...

Fitted a replacement clock-spring solved my NB's Air-bag warning light issue.

The battery light issue was caused by an internally regulated alternator confusing the ECU. Re-wired the alternator fixed the problem (viewtopic.php?f=55&t=57765)

Fully functional instrument panel now and the air-bag is functional once again.

Thanks ASE05

Big update today! FINALLY ... fitted my BC Coilovers!!!

Decided to use the long bolt method this time and so much easier!!

Even better when I discovered that wheel braces fit some of the tougher nuts/bolts :)

Preparations ...

Before (taken a while ago) ...

After ... :D

Will drive it around for a while to allow settling and make any adjustments required, then get a wheel alignment.

On test driving around a few times while setting the corner heights it felt good, but geez it takes a few times up/wheels off/adjust/wheels on/down, to get corners somewhere near even ... Will obviously need to play with shock settings but I was surprised how good they felt (set them on 10 clicks for starters).

Going to enjoy playing with them

Some interior improvements fitted and other stuff on the way which will allow me to put stuff back in "Mexie" that I had swapped over, but will update all that another day ... need to settle back with a glass (or three) of Makers Mark & let my muscles get over the shock ....

.. really looks good, Kev. The red looks pretty shiny. What's the drop in ride height?
Would be nice to drop 1" so that the car doesnt sit like a 4x4
