I don't believe that Ryco would sell a filter (specific for a particular model car) that would bypass at max revs, or on cold starts with multi-grade oil (assuming clean, not blocked state).

The OEM looks the better quality build, & at $17, it's only $1 more than the basic Ryco 436.

I think you will find that all oil filters bypass all of the time, it's not the norm to expect no bypass ever. They bypass, its how the work, and it's ok.

To be honest, given the choice between dirty oil circulating a bit more often, and low oil pressure at revs/cold/anytime, i'd prefer the dirty oil.

The right amount/pressure of sh*t oil is better for an engine that too little/low pressure clean oil.



That, and the fact that B6 and BP engines have been happily running for the past 30 odd years, often with far from ideal service intervals, and rarely running OEM filters once the warranty expires.
