More progress!
It all starts with me selling the turbo. Yep, decided against it and someone bought it before I changed my mind. I might have bought something else, hehe.
In preparation for this new thing, I finally got around to the major service I've been planning on for a year now. Water pump, coolant hoses, timing belt, all the oil seals on the front of the engine, rocker cover gasket, etc. I had planned on also doing the coolant re-route at the same time, but a logistics issue has placed my re-route kit in the void - it's not in my house, it wasn't in the car and it wasn't in the garage. It'll turn up (I hope).
Some pictures during tear down, in case anyone wanted to see a vvt motor with her top off:
All back together, now with more pink:
Big thanks to Jamal for not only letting the work be done in his garage, but also doing most of it - I'd be remiss if I said I did anything more than help, I'm not going to pretend I know what I'm doing. Thanks as well to Paul for giving us some pointers with vvt head specifics, and Kirk and Jake for rocking up and turning a spanner just to say they did.
Next on the agenda is to find the re-route kit and install it, plus get the flex sensor that's been sitting on a shelf for months in and tuned.
