So moving right along...

Terry was very gracious to give me first option on his car and I certainly was chuffed.
The amount and awesomeness of work Terry put into this car over the years cannot be understated, so I'm pretty bloody lucky to have a car with all this work done, as I still had pretty much all that to go on the old Slug. This car is very much what I like in an N/A build.
I feel pretty bad that the things I will do further to the car mostly involves adding weight back in rather than maintaining or advancing on the track aspects of the car, but we love having an MX5 as a daily and road trip car, and it really is very good on the road too.

Pretty much all that I've been doing is driving it... a lot. Getting used to how it behaves and all of its sounds (I don't just mean exhaust and engine sounds!)

Some recent photos by apegrip (all of Terry's are gone anyway!)

If nothing these show off Terry's great effort on the car. :)
I was greatly pleased to find that the ATS DTC wheels fit on the car without rubbing, so since the Wats are out of action now, the ATS are the dailies.

Drove it at Lakeside last week... hassle free day with the car, but I took it pretty easy on the driving.

I'm in possession of a GoPro now so track days are getting recorded. Best lap from Lakeside:

I've changed over the AWD/RS Refine gauges, and added the KG Works badge... just cosmetic stuff.
One of the major things to do is change from the Microtech LT-10 to the Adaptronic and should be able to refine the tune somewhat.
I'm getting the hardtop repainted in a couple of weeks time, as its faded shabbiness brings down the tone on this shiny car!
I also need to swap in the aircon from the old slug, because you just can't live without it in the modern world. While that happens I'll do a major refresh of interior stuff and probably new carpet.

On the side I have to strip down the old Slug. All the things I had acquired for it we might still put to use in one of the other cars laying around.

Looks good Andrew.
Glad I got a drive before tbro offloaded

For those who don't know the history of the car. It is known as Scoota

A lot of history down south from this car when Slammer was the pilot!

Not sure if it's just my monitor, but the car looks burnt orange in this shot:

- looks great in that colour

For DD you're going to get pinged for the hood tiedowns though so consider installing flush Aerocatch ones.

Edit: In the post above referring to Terry's work on the car... I meant it can't be overstated... not understated!!

Oh wow that's fantastic to see those older photos! Jeez Cardomain is an awful site to use now.
I scoured Cardomain quite heavily looking at various MX5's for inspiration when I was on the verge of buying the first car... layout was quite different then.

Hardtop has been at Mayne Panel and Paint this week for a refurb.

It was faded badly when I first got it and my years of outside parking have only made it worse...
Image

Dropped by this morning so that they could check the colour again... the car does have a few different shades of red on it, so it is getting matched to the car (mostly) rather than the code
Image

The window will have a new seal (though not a Mazda one) and I have new roof to door glass rubber as well so it should seal better!

Hardtop refurb was completed and I am very happy with the work.

Image

Trucked off for a weekend at Morgan Park 19th-20th March.
Took off at 5am Saturday... forgot cams licence at home and remembered at Redbank Plains.... craaaaaap turn around and go back for it.

The MX5CQ day Saturday was much fun. Most enjoyable to see and hear the Porsche's making with the loud noises in addition to the usual MX5 noises!
It was a busy day of cars and the MX5's were a big group so didn't really go hard at it overall, achieved 1:39.4 on the H circuit and 1:19.4 on E.

Sunday was a most enjoyable day of driving. This was the field...
Image

With Magpie's help and the use of his very nice tyre pressure/temp gauge, I fiddled with the 888's a bit and the grip improved noticeably.

The only thing to happen over the two days was the oil temperature gauge stopped working, but its just in the sensor or the gauge. Otherwise the car was great once again, and exhibits no issues.

A few things to do now with pulling apart the old slug and transferring some stuff, so I will probably miss the next track day :(

To close, a close up of the KG Works badge...
