I've never seen a marina green metallic on anything other than a very late na8.

I've only ever seen white, black, red and Laguna blue '94 na8's here.

I didn't think NA6CE's came in metallic green, check this link: 1990 EUNOS Roadster V-Special

Dont think that VIN check is relevant for our vehicles..

eg NB8A vehicles start with JMONB30P100 and NB8B vehicles start with JMONB30P200.

Using the above suggests that the 10th digit is the year, yet I have VINs for 1998, 99, 00 & 01 vehicles and they all say 0 in the 10th digit.
Also it says the 9th digit is a check digit, which also is incorrect as the 9th digit above is 1 for NB1 and 2 for NB2..

Japanese green is a metallic with clear. 1990 Aust Green was a flat with no clear.
Neither colour is a BRG.

BRG defines a range of dark greens. There has never been one true BRG. As Napiers colors actually changed over the years.

whatever you call it. the paint code is HU and in 1990 Mazda called it Neon Green (i think) but in later years same paint code is refereed to as BRG.That also depends where you look

colour code HU is for 'Neo Green' AKA British Racing Green. It's just a nickname for the colour, BRG does not have a a specific paint code. The Mazda 'Neo Green' on a NA is single stage paint with no metallic, whereas the NB Miata 'Neo Green' got a clear coat ontop, still no metallic. There are some special editions in the US which got green metallic paint, but the colour is named Mariner Green.

What you have there is a V-special, it still has the black stripe across the bottom from what I can see so it wouldn't have had a whole body respray. (curiously, a 96/97 au spec BRG does not have the black stripe across the side). Other features std on V-special that you don't get on the Au LE would be viscous lsd (probably goneskiis anyway), airconditioning, power steering, and some interior Nardi items (gear knob seems to be replaced). Aftermarket goodies I can see that are not std - tan soft top, miata floor mats from the US, speakers, headunit, gear boots. Optional stuff the original owner got from JP would be the steering wheel (not std issue Nardi), and polished valve cover.

How certain are you about the viscous diff? I asked the owner what the diff was and he said it was an open diff. Could he have possibly said this due to it being old and not locking up anymore?

It is possible. At that age many of them are just open diffs now.

Looks like my first (and best?) MX-5, which was also an import and called a Eunos with different badges. Gave $3,000 for it and ran it for 12 months and sold it for the same, in decent nick.
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)
