HELP 89 MX5 / Eunos roadster

Postby beemerjack » Thu Jan 09, 2014 3:49 pm

I'm looking at buying 89 Eunos MX5 and have been told the import model ,which this is, has
LSD , Adjustable rear suspension , sports exhaust and extractors and heavy duty clutch which the aus delivered vehicles don't.
My question is does this sound right and is the car in fact a " B spec" model as well as import roadster and are there any other differences.

I'm looking for a car for fun and the occasional club / track day. The car is an absolute blast to drive and would I imagine
come under the unmodified category for club days (?) . This will be my first MX5 so any advise and help will be greatly appreciated.
I hope this is the right area of the board and if not can the "moderators" put it in the right place.
ps . If anyone can point me toward a spec page. I found quite a bit of info but none mentioned the extras

I really want this car but lack the knowledge to sort all the options

Any picture of the car that you are looking at? I think only England call mx5 - Eunos, in US they call miata, in Japan they call roadster or mx5, but I am not 100% sure

By the way, you can go and look into the engine bay, the plate will tell you where was this car manual-fracture.

I know it's an import , I assumed from Japan. The main info I need is what came as extras on the Japan model
BTW Thanks for the reply I didn't even look at compliance plate

IN Japan it was called the Eunos Roadster. UK got the Mazda MX5 but also got a lot of grey imports so has their fair share of Eunos Roadsters as well.

LSD was an option on the JDM model but really, with anything 20+yrs old, there's probably going to be far more differences from it's life than from what was optioned when new.

Neither Eunos Roadsters nor Australian-delivered MX5s came with factory adjustable rear suspension to my knowledge. The "sports exhaust and extractors" are probably aftermarket though if you have some pictures someone here would be able to confirm that, and the heavy duty clutch probably is too (not so easy to get photos but it doesn't really matter anyway). Nothing wrong with aftermarket parts, but the suspension and exhaust would put you into the Clubman class in NSW track days rather than Standard NA.
