Corr! Cheap insurance up in Queensland. We're usually more expensive in NSW for some reason, but I didn't know it was more than double.

Thanks for the suggestion. I prefer to keep track of fuel consumption with a spreadsheet. Those apps often don't allow for partial fills, which can muck up the calculations, and it would drive me nuts using a "gas manager". I get a printed receipt whenever I fill up, write the odometer reading on it, and update the spreadsheet later on. All good.

Hey, I've been doing plenty of club runs ... where are you!? I don't see your name on the Gong to Gledswood list ... slacker! :P

... hmmm, that can't be right because after checking the paperwork, the car was delivered 28th August 2009. The dealer must have added another couple months rego because rego expiry is 9th November 2012. They did have it on their lot since 2nd April 2012 when the pink slip inspection was done.

9th September 2012 - MX-5 Club President's Picnic

Now that we have two MX-5s in the household, the President's Picnic was a great opportunity for the whole family to do an MX-5 event together. We started the day with a short drive up to Panorama House, Bulli for an 8:30am meet-up with the BreakFast Club. I was driving Little Reddy and Fiona was with Alex in Little Bluey. The Gong to Gledswood Run was led by Andrew Lord and I followed them leading a group of cruisers from the Illawarra Chapter. The short drive took the scenic route via Broughton Pass, a twisty crossing of Nepean River at Douglas Park, a lookout stop at Razorback, and then the backroads around Camden to end at Gledswood Winery, Catherine Field. A surprisingly entertaining run actually. 8)

At Gledswood, we parked up on the grass as directed by club officials, with three lines of MX-5s: NAs, NBs, NCs. Yep, it was time for Show Us Your Bits 'n' Bling. A fantastic turn-out with about 70 odd MX-5s sparkling in the sun on a crystal clear spring day. It was a busy morning with lots of perving at cars, purchasing of regalia, and talks about modifications and track days.

Next on the agenda was the President's Picnic, which was a "high tea" style lunch at Gledswood Homestead. It was fantastic sitting around the porch, overlooking the lawn with ours cars gleaming. The food was delicious, and the conversation entertaining. Finally, President Glenn Thomas had the duty of announcing the various winners of the Bits 'n' Bling. We got a shock when Little Bluey's rego plate was read out as being the winner of the Highly Commended award in Best Bling! A fantastic day out and an extremely successful series of events for the MX-5 Club. Well done Michael Soulos, Lesa Bunn, Andrew Lord and everyone else involved in organising the day.

I hope NeilHR doesn't mind, but I've pinched his photos. Check them all out here.

Finallly a modification for Little Bluey. Who needs a weedy supercharger when you can have a 660kW wind turbine?

I've been incredibly busy since being elected as President of the MX-5 Club of NSW. However, I've still made time for a few club runs in Little Bluey.

I like 'em too. Even with the stock SUV-sized wheel arch gaps!
