I previously ran a 2002 RX7 and inevitably the engine went pop goes the weasel.
Which then let me to Daniel Deckers as the man to put my humpty dumpty rotary back together again.
Visiting his workshop I couldn't help but notice that there were MX5's as far as the eye could see, when I
found out how quick they were and how reliable and good (relatively) on running costs I had to have one.
So after 1 agonizingly long year trying to find someone to buy my RX7 I finally ditched her.
Brief Timeline
Jan 2010 - Car is Bought from Japan Auctions
Apr 2010 - Car Arrives in Sydney
May 2010 - Stripped and Basic Prep (Cheers to Chris Deckers for serious elbow grease here)
On Hold until July/August waiting for the 7 to go.
Sep 2010 - Built me a Trailer
Oct 2010 - Yesterday the dozens of little things needed for a car.
- HALTECH Platinum 1000
- Extractors
- Exhaust (Deckers Hand Made)
- TEIN Mono
- Various Suspension mods, welding this and that
- Roll Bar
- Sparco EVO 2 welded to floor (I am rounder than most)
- OMP WRC Leather 350 MM Steering Wheel
- Delete Power Steering, and AC
- Welded Diff
- Swapped to 1600 NA Non PS Steering Rack
- 949 Racing Wheels 15x8
- Dunlop DZ03 Semi's in Hard Compound
and more stuff I forget
Finally took her for a shakedown run at Wakefield Yesterday and it goes great.
Have only ever dríven NA MX5's as race cars and this was the nicest one I have dríven.
Cheers to Daniel and Chris who have put a heap of time into this car.
will post some photos when I get around to taking some.

Ooohhh! Looking forward to the pics mate. Can't sing enough praises for Daniel and his work. The man works like a trojan to get the job done. Couldn't accomodate my car in the workshop due to number of race cars currently there so came to my place instead. Once I'm ready to have the car prepped for track, will definitely contact Dan and/or Chris to get it done.

Nah ... Paperwork not sorted and need to work on my driving a bit more before I will do any more racing.
Did two races last year and I am not even approaching a solid pace just yet.

Debut Race Done
Unfortunately for me it was a mixed Race with Sports Sedans a lively experience to say the least.
I could manage about 180 kph down the main straight of SMP and as the Big Banger Sports Sedans fly buy
at 280+ they actually move you a few inches to the right it gets your attention when 4 nose to tail do it.
Engine is Fully Rebuilt now by Daniel of DeckSpeed Racing it's a pretty high specification and I rate it.
Changes made include
FORGED PISTONS
UPGRADED CAMSHAFTS
VALVES and SPRINGS
UPRATED CONRODS and Studs
JENVEY INDIVIDUAL THROTTLE BODIES
4 into 1 Extractor
ATI Harmonic Balancer
PWR Radiator
Closed Loop Haltech added
Adjustable CAM Gears
CUSTOM HEAD WORK (this is the dark art but worth it in the long run)
are some of the main ingredients.
It wouldn't be fair to give Exact details talk to Daniel if you wanting an engine of this standard.
Next came a huge amount of Machining Work and tuning to get the most of this combination.
Result is over 130 rwkw Naturally Aspirated when you put that down through the 6 speed
it has pretty tidy acceleration and spins the wheels freely up until third.
Throttle response is good and everyone asks after they have seen it run if it has a turbo
nope been there done that this is better.

Funnily enough I was a flag marshal at SMP last weekend, found it a bit strange that you were grouped with the sprint sedans. I'll bet you got sick of the blue flag
I didn't realise how much work has been put into it otherwise I would've had a better look, very nice
