timetorelax's gold NB8A

Postby timetorelax » Sat Mar 22, 2008 11:43 am

Hi everyone,

Here's my stock 98 evo gold NB8A mx5. I bought it about 2 months ago with 120k on the clock.

I'm going to keep it stock but maybe I'll retrim the seats in leather sometime this year.

I lie, the only mod is the air vent chrome surrounds.

That looks like Hot Rodders car. Couple of things I can suggest though would be to get the front number plate bracket from MX5 Plus in Brisbane and a few guys here are buying the Npower muffler which is cheap, looks great and is a piece of piss to fit. Also sounds great. Apart from that nice car :D

instead of getting a muffler you could get a CAI, sounds stock at low throttle, but at WOT it's great

Still love that colour. Still bummed I didn't buy one in either evo gold or get a 10AE...

excellent colour choice - just paint the stock wheels black and it will look a treat.
98 evo gold - rotrexed and loving it.

timetorelax's gold NB8A/2

Postby timetorelax » Tue Jul 29, 2008 8:56 pm

My last post seemed to have got lost during the forum upgrade.

Anyway, I've finally finished "upgrading" my NB8A interior with NB8B parts. As the interior is now wholly NB8B my car should really be called NB8A/2.

I really love the dials, seats and stereo.

The door trim was easy to fit BUT the handle was a BIG PAIN in the butt!

Congrats on the colour choice....

I'm looking at upgrading some of my interior parts too, because they're looking a bit worn..

How much did you pick up the nb8b door trims for??

Thanks for the compliment.

If I remember the door trim was about $150 for both. They were a pain in the butt to install because the door handle is in a slightly different position in the NB8B. You have to be very creative when "modifying" inside the door and extending the door rods as well.

It's been a while.... life got in the way (ie: baby) BUT I've still kept "goldie".

After months of saving I finally had enough for a full respray. I dropped goldie off to Hume Smash Repairs and Mick and crew got to work.

Apart from a fresh coat of paint, I ordered a new front bumper, new headlights, new door window rubbers, new windscreen and new badges. It now looks better than new!

Some may notice what happened to the NB8B 16" rims. I found some perfect condition NB8A 15" rims and decided the "original" look suits it at the moment.

For the interior I wanted a "stock" upgraded look. So I've added SE leather seats, NB8B airbag steering wheel, NB8B dials (green backlight), Mazda Tribute CD/radio (green backlight), imported Mazda MiniDisc player addon, NB8B centre console, SE carbon look trim, FD Rx7 Mazdaspeed gearknob, leather boot & handbrake cover and alumium door scuff plates.

So after all that, I think I'm happy with :D

Looks stunning!
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Nice! How do you find the leather seats? I am thinking about these but concerned by the sliding about effect I might get with some spirited driving... but they look great?!

I like the ones witht eh red stitching as well....

I love the seats but yes, they are slippery.

Slippery-er anyway. They are also higher than the 8A seats I notice ... as the GM has just scored a set too 8)
