UPDATE

Haven't updated this for ages so... here's an update.

Haven't done much to the car lately - just lots of little annoying things (timing belt, etc). Somewhere along the way I did manage to do some interesting stuff though!

Tein Type RA

Image

Bought these from Japan in late January and finally fitted them yesterday . It was amazing how much lighter these were then the previous dampers I had (Tein Type NR), these Type RA's have an aluminium body though so I guess that's why . No idea what the spring rates are - now that I have dríven around on them for a day I'd say the spring rates are quite high. Also, the pillowball mounts make these things ridiculously noisy. Great purchase though - although the previous dampers I had seemed to work pretty well you can definitely tell a difference in performance between the two. Still trying to figure out the dampening settings though. Question to all the tein damper owners out there: which direction (anticlockwise/clockwise) does what? Anyway, after spending 4 hours of pain fitting the dampers the car looked like this!

So I'm off to get a wheel alignment tomorrow. While I was fitting the coilovers I also removed the soft top and half the carpet. The shop that is doing my wheel alignment also stocks Sparco and Velo seats so I'll probably end up buying new seats tomorrow also (trying to decide between the Sparco Sprint V and the Velo Milano - Velo Milano is 3kg lighter but I'm not sure how it will fit so I'll test it out tomorrow). Once the new seats are purchased the rest of the interior carpet will come out. I also have a Racing Beat front sway bar, front end-links and a power steering delete kit on its way. So once they come in I'll finally be able to get rid of the power steering and air conditioning! :P If you couldn't

I think for Tein's clockwise is to tighten, at least they are on super streets. Should be able to find the manual for them online.

Car looks so clean :P

Great thread and pics.

Did you consider the Sparco Chrono Road, too, as a seat? It looks like it will fit. 21" wide although it's 15kg which is quite a weight to carry.

Thanks for the comments.
A.Chen89 - You are correct  thanks!
Bizi - The Sparco Chrono Road looks alright but seems kinda heavy (half the reason I am going with new seats is to try and shed some more weight).

I got a wheel alignment done at a small motorsport shop in Brisbane (North). They based their alignment specs on what you can find on 949 Racing's website. I'm pretty sure 949 Racing recommended a toe angle of 0, this would however result in less stability at high speeds (not ideal for extended driving on the highway, etc) so they increased (+ or -... I can't remember) the toe angle. Verrrrry happy with their work, amazing how much a good alignment affects the handling of the car.

I also had a look at some seats. It doesn't appear a Velo Milano would fit easily in an NA because it's a bit wide at the base. So I'll be picking up 2 Sparco Sprint V's on Monday. I'll remove the carpet on Monday as well which leaves me the problem of what to do with my power window switches. I decided I'll move the headunit to the glove box, make a blanking plate for the centre part (2-DIN space) and then mount the window switches on the blanking plate. I have already bought some ON-OFF-ON toggle switches and I'm ready to start tackling the wiring (little bit nervous though as I'll be using the OEM power window harness so if I screw any wiring up then I won't have control of my windows for a while ). Should be fine though, I managed to find a wiring diagram for this conversion and it seems pretty simple. After that I'll be swapping over to OEM gauge cluster dials... all except the tacho guage, I have a little plan for that one . I'll post up pics, etc soon - watch this space! Big interior update coming soon! :D

Anywayyyy... No update for ages because I have been busy doing other stuff. Lots has been done to the car lately though! You can read all about it in it's for sale thread! Although I really do like the car and have had fun with it I believe it is finally time for it to make way for something else. Anyway, for sale thread, final mod list and some more pics of it can be found here:
