Phuck-U Photobucket!
Just read this at https://www.miataturbo.net/media-53/photobucket-now-charges-%24399-yr-3rd-party-image-hosting-93796/
"Photobucket has changed their terms for use:
Available Plus Account Plans :
Photobucket offers the following Plus Account Plans:
o Plus 50 Plan: 52 GB of Storage for $59.99 / Year. The Plus 50 Plan does not allow any image linking or 3rd party image hosting.
o Plus 100 Plan: 102 GB of Storage for $99.99 / Year. The Plus 100 Plan allows for unlimited image linking but does not allow 3rd party image hosting.
o Plus 500 Plan: 500 GB of Storage and unlimited bandwidth for $399.99 / Year. The Plus 500 Plan allows for unlimited image linking and unlimited 3rd party image hosting.
So all the links to my photos now don't work and it will cost me $399 per year to reactivate them!"
- Verified that this is the case and all my forum photos are now effectively gone!
It's been annoyingly hard to use recently with the bombarding of constant ads when trying to add photos so it looks like Imgur will be the big winner from all the Photobucket refugees like me!

Re: Phuck-U Photobucket!
If you right-click on the PB image and open it in in a new tab, it will be displayed in a Photobucket page but that sucks.
Okibi, is it possible to re-map images from one site to another if there's a one-to-one mapping of the images?
ie. If it's just a matter of editing the existing links in html source code, I can whip up a Python script to do that, it would read a file that maps the originalImageLocation to the newImageLocation and update the html source accordingly.
The biggest effort would be copying the images from PB to the new hosting site.

Re: Phuck-U Photobucket!
A bit of jquery could easily swap the domain (and edit the path is needed) but the file names would need to be the same, issue is making sure it doesn't effect those who decide to pay $$$$ to keep their bucket.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Damnit! as if PB wasn't bad enough lately as it was. The only reason I've persisted is because I couldn't be bothered to start anew. I think this will be the nail in Photobucket's coffin.
What service is recommended instead of PB?

Regarding Flickr: https://www.wired.com/2016/03/time-give-flickr-everybody/
Imgur seems to be a good option

I think it would be safe to assume that NO individuals are prepared to "pony-up" U$399 per year so that their photos will appear correctly in forums.

Meh. A Flickr Pro account costs $50 per year. I've had a Pro account for many years. It was $50 for two years until very recently (my last renewal for two years was in January).

Re: Phuck-U Photobucket!
OK, Imgur it is for me.
I tried it a long time ago, but pics were public and I got some comments on them from the Imgur community, which was unexpected. I couldn't work out how to hide my albums/photos, but still link them in forums but I've worked it out now on the web page.
I'm still trying to work out the app - it's a bit of a social media platform which confuses it a bit for me. I just want to host, organise my photos. But at least it's not full of pop ups like PB, and doesn't cost a ludicrous $399/yr!
I don't see editing the existing photo links working though. Oddly, my build thread's photos are still displaying. Maybe they don't get viewed enough to trigger the lock down?

Re: Phuck-U Photobucket!
I think the Red and Blue channels might be broken, probably worth letting Imgur know.

Re: Phuck-U Photobucket!
They did this to me 18 months ago so I jumped ship to Imgur (infinitely better).
How frustrating is it, all those build thread posts completely ruined, I mean, who actually reads the text?
