My Roadster in Bendigo

Postby droo » Wed Jul 18, 2012 4:23 pm

I caught up with a mate in my town for a coffee this morning and he brought his gen1 GoPro. We got takeaways and fitted the camera to various bits of the car. No specific idea what we were doing but on looking at the footage recorded over the next 15 minutes i decided to put together a little clip of driving around the town's CBD.

Excellent footage with very great sound track. It was done so well, it could easily be mistaken for a movie preview.

Was the panning during the drive done during editing?

Or did you use some kind of moving mount?

Panning done in post.

I do have a 3 axis pan tilt head but i havent actually used it yet! Its a little bit bulky for the GoPro suction mount tho (bought it for my main bigger camera)

The GoPro was filming in 1280x960 mode (5:4 or 4:3 ?) but as i chose to letterbox the hell out of it, it gave a lot of latitude to pan vertically without compromising the horizontal resolution.
My favourite scene was with the GoPro mounted on the drivers window, and I'd raised then lowered the window.
There was a bit of post zooming in on the image as i rotated the image a smidge to compensate for the window moving up and in, to keep the horizon fairly level.
Was my first time playing with that camera, and i desperately want one of my own : )

Nice one Droo.
:( :( :( I miss the old town. I will be up this weekend having dinner at the Marong Hotel Saturday night and the Gliding Club AGM on Sunday. Weather should be good for some flying as well.
Hope to catch you at The Garage soon.
Cheers!
