Contour + - a helmet style camera that records to a micro SD card so no bumping issues.
Gripe - the bluetooth to my iPhone whilst great for setting up shots will not allow recording to be started fromn the iPhone you need to slide the record switch manaully.
Gripe - is that the iPhone kept dropping the bluetooth and you need to connect to it frist before starting the App.
Gripe - wind noise (probably a setting thing)
Gripe - Storyteller software is very basic when it comes to editing.
Off the subject gripe - $44 parking charge for 66 mins parking in the city of Brisbane (only Ted's Camera had them in stock for impluse buying).
Plus - takes bumps really well and keeps recording (the whole reason I purchased it)
Plus - the roll bar mount has an adapter to attach it to a tripod so no need to buy one seperatley.
Plus - nice and compact as well as good quality images
Sticky Pod is a suction cap based camera mount that has a normal tripod type screw connector, plus it is said to be able to withstand high speeds. More info here http://www.stickypod.com/. It arrived from the States in about 5 days (much faster than Australia Post). The mount I got also allowed for it to be used on the dashboard, however I have only tested this with my Nikon camera and not the Contour + and there was a little bit of shaking so I need to play around with the postion of it.
Plus - the suction caps are VERY VERY good
Gripe - getting the suction caps to release
When putting on the dash the 3 suction cups do not stick rather the one on the windscreen does.
Video 1 is from the Contour + installed on the diagonal brace on the roll bar (MX5 Plus Tall Boy type) the GPS data file is here http://contour.com/stories/contour-rollbar--2. Personally I think that it needs to be further forward and the rear view mirror blocks some of the view.
Video 2 is with the Contour + on the sticky pod on the bonnet (up to 80 kmh) the Video/GPS file is here http://contour.com/stories/sticky-pod-contour-mx5-bonnet
Video 3 is with the sticky pod on the passengers side just behind the door the Video/GPS file is here http://contour.com/stories/stickypod-contour-mx5--2
Photos of where it was mounted
I'm off to Toowoomba on Saturday/Sunday so I may try out some more positions then and if people want I will update this post with some more feedback on the mounts and cameras.
