I've just found http://www.trapster.com/
This is a community fed website that allows users to add redlight camera spots, common radar haunts and construction zones to it. Data can be retrieved via Facebook, Twitter, Tom Tom and phones equipped with a GPS (see http://trapster.com/download_phones.php).
I'm in Brisbane and the info is quite good.
FYI: You need to register to use it and the initial presented map is in the the US. Click on the map, zoom out, scroll to Austraia, then zoom in again to get your target area.
- enjoy

I have been using this successfully for a few months now. The new 'caravaning' feature is very useful if travelling in convoy, or you need to find your mates. I use this a lot between Gold Coast and Brisbane and its been great for alerts for speed cameras etc.
One of the most useful apps on my iPhone.

I've been using this for about 6 months on my Android phone. The problem is that there's a time limit on everything (even permanent fixtures like red light cameras) after which the alerts disappear.
It relies on people constantly verifying the alerts, which sadly doesn't seem to happen much in Canberra and Sydney.
A similar app is Waze. Plus, I can imagine people might start using Buzz for live police alerts as well.
