NA6 battery
My NA6 battery is not holding charge after a couple of years.
What do folks suggest for one that will last longer than that and not break the bank?
I'm in Adelaide.
Thanks - Chris

Re: NA6 battery
My service log shows the following:
27Jul15 - $140 - replaced Panasonic battery with Alco MF43 (L).
It's still working fine after almost 4 years, but bear in mind that I keep it on a charger/minder whenever the car's not being used.

I did a search before posting, but can't find one.
Can you please point me to it?

The guy who can point to threads is 93clubman - his skills at data bases is not insignificant and can find needles. Send him a PM. However you can still do some work yourself by taking the car to an Auto elect or similiar and they will check the battery - note the size and terminal config and then should be able to check whats available - i.e. its a sourcing exercise.

Re: NA6 battery
truthfully, your battery is 4 years old. Its not the original Panasonic which cost abou $400 30 years ago
The original;l NA Panasonic lasted between 10-15 years My own lasted 13 years
you paid $140 Id say your battery is toast. that's the going price for a battery
I paid about that for mine 12 mths ago.
check Mx5 mania

Yeah, coincidentally I've been running a Supercharge Gold MF43 which was $90 from Autobarn for nearly the last decade. Replaced the first one last year with another Supercharge Gold MF43 from Autobarn for $90. Still using the first one in the JD ride-on mower after it's battery went.
You may find you might need a slightly longer upright securing rod, but it might be fine in the NA6.

Thanks 93, good to have an alternate source when my current one gives up.

Re: NA6 battery
Mania seem to be selling the Panasonic battery. Also i realised that i still have the Panasonic battery in my 91 brg but not sure if its original. But it still works fine maybe because its always connected to the ctek battery tender.

Re: NA6 battery
Digging up this thread from last year as it's still relevant so not worth a new thread. I'm currently in need of a new battery for my 89 JDM NA6C. The currently battery is not the proper fitting one, it came with the vehicle three years ago and was loose in the boot. I've since used a tie down strap to secure it in place. It's died during the year that the vehicle was off the road for restoration - with a night on the Ctek charger it's able to last a few days, but the starts get slower and slower until it has to be roll started and the stereo settings drop off like the battery's been disconnected.
I tried the various big battery brands catalogues but found they consistently did not list an option for the NA6 or NA8 vehicles.
I too haven't been able to find this thread that you speak of bruce.
The Supercharge Gold MF43 has gone up to $159.00 at Autobarn now < https://www.autobarn.com.au/supercharge ... -gold-mf43 > - which is still not too bad a price.
Using the Alco (Enirgi) MF43 specs as the standard, the following other batteries will also fit:
Century Hi Performance 43
Delkor 22F-330LS
Bosch 22NF330
Club Assist 2134
AC Delco 22NF-330LS
GS Yusa 43
It may perhaps be easier to source one of the above alternative brands for easier or for cheaper. Of note is the Century Hi Performance 43 is available from Supercheap Auto for $159.99 < https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/cen ... AU&start=1 >.
MX5Mania sell a SSB 400cca battery < https://mx5mania.com.au/products/nb-1989-2236 > but they don't specify ship them or the model number. The SSB website doesn't list local suppliers either. Does anyone know or have one they can look on and advise the part number for please?

Re: NA6 battery
Looks like this one on Ebay would fit and seems a good price for an agm battery?

Re: NA6 battery
Anyone able to advise on the dimensions of the original Panasonic batteries? Or have one they can measure the length, width and height of? I ask as the MF43 dimensions are different to the Fullriver HC35 < http://www.fullriver.com/products/admin/upfile/HC35.pdf > dimensions in all three aspects.
EDIT: found the answer in the old thread - Panasonic is: 235mm (L) x 160 (H) x 125 (W), & 9.5kg. Therefore the Fullriver is slightly wider (7mm) and slightly taller (7mm) but 39mm less in length and a few kg heavier.
But some of the old threads suggest that a smaller and lighter Fullriver fits too (vague on which one though?).
According to Batteries Direct < https://www.batteriesdirect.com.au/shop ... ss43m.html > the SSB battery part number is SS43M.
And according to Every Battery < https://www.everybattery.com.au/proddet ... N-S46A24LS > the Panasonic OEM unit is part number S46A24LS.
Another thread on this topic from circa 2012 is located at http://mx5cartalk.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... it=battery
In the thread it is suggested that Federal have some offerings. Checking their websites Vehicle Search catalogue at https://federalbatteries.com.au/vehicle-search confirms that they do:
NS40ZLMF New Zealand Models ; RBW
NS40ZLSMF Australian Models ; RBW
NS40ZLMF New Zealand Models ; 12V 330CCA 55RC Start Master FLOODED
NS40ZLSMF Australian Models ; 12V 330CCA 55RC Start Master FLOODED
And interestingly enough those part numbers are also offered by a variety of other manufacturers including Century, Delkor and Yuasa...
Other suggestions from that thread include:
Absorbed Power (aka Supercharge) GT12-35HR - seems to also go under the Gaston brand name too.
Supercharge MF40B20DF Calcium
And another old thread at http://mx5cartalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=55595

Re: NA6 battery
I have the smaller Fullriver HC20 AGM in my NB8A track car. I modified the hold down bracket by welding on another edge angle due to the narrower width. Here's pictures of the OE Panasonic & HC20 installed:

Re: NA6 battery
I can't find the receipt (and the car is away a the moment) but Battery World had the right dimension in stock and heaps cheaper than SCA.

Re: NA6 battery
Got the Autobarn Easter Sale cattle dog delivered last Monday, which contained some different Supercharge battery specials. So checked the replacement Supercharge battery purchased last year to see if it was the same model originally purchased a decade ago - it was. However, it was the Supercharge MF40B20DF as opposed to the Supercharge MF43. The original Supercharge MF40B20DF purchased a decade ago for the NA8 went into the JD ride on mower, where it's still going strong.
