What about Electric conversion

Before you say it, its not worth it. Youre wrong. From a financial point of view , you're right. But its not about that.

Yes I'm from the Northern Beaches , We threw out Abbott because he is not partial to the environment because to him it didn't make financial sense. :roll:

but I'm partial to Electric conversion.

from my massive 5 min of research....most DIY cars only have about 150km range. That would barely get me up the old Pack & Back. what about those new electric cars who have 300 km. with 300 km on Patchyt. I'd be a real happy larry. I'd feel real fuzzy on the inside as well.

I'd be happy to cough up the $30k for a conversion in Patchy.

There was a post years ago from a guy doing one. He was from one of the electric conversion forums/websites. Posted a few times then disappeared.
I'd like one if it was Tesla fast, but I guess that would bump up the conversion cost considerably.

The listed speed and range is poor. I hope the upgrades improved things markedly.
There's no advantage to do it.

Electric motor retrofits should be a thing before too long. Take your classic or favourite car and get an electric drive line fitted. I don't think we're quite there yet though.

It would add considerable weight to an MX-5 I would think though. Better suited to GT cars than light sports cars.

yea the guy I bought my BP-4W off has done a few conversions. But his is tor racing....a shitload of power in an Nissan R31....but very short range.

he was talking about 150 kw equivalent being quite easy. Using the fuel tank space for Batteries & so on.

Absolutely . That would be the attraction for me. Although I’m not a big fan of having to cut stuff or welding as I’m no good at it but I could really dig a project like that.

Currently I find myself constantly looking for high compression oversized pistons, con rods for that high revving 2L BP-4W to be built for Patchy

Yeah, STM, I can see this will be a thing one day. It may have been a bit sooner if Shifty had got in but, in any case, it will have to get a lot cheaper before I’d get involved.

I’m currently working on one which is being upgraded to Tesla batteries.

The big cost is the batteries. They are not very common is Aus, so you pay the premium the get them imported.

It’s road going and will do skids......

Creating a YouTube build.

Will post when I’ve got some decent footage and videography worked out...
