Can anyone tell me what this connection is for?

Postby madmort » Sun Jul 09, 2017 8:34 pm

Can anyone tell me what this empty connection is for? It's located on the right hand side under my dash on an 02 NB. I found it while looking for an OBD2 port.

Thanks

I was going to look this up in the MazdaSpeed Tech manuals (should be similar between '02 and '04 NBs) that you can find at https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B3YbfB30DxW0bEdwS0xSNGVXMzA but then I figured, you can do it instead!

ie. "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; show him how to catch fish and you feed him for a lifetime." - Anne Isabella Richie

It's a good reference source that you'll use a lot once you're familiar with it.

I already have that resource but cannot read wiring diagrams and thought someone kind might know what that socket is for, and let me know.
Thanks for your help.

Looks like a relay fits in it - from the look of the side clips the relay is similar to the fuel pump relay (a B577 on an NA). The main relay aka EGI relay (B5B4) in the engine bay fuse box is also similar, but has a different number of connector spades, & clipping arrangement might be slightly different.

Look in the "elecrical component location.pdf" file - has pictures of the various components, not just wiring diagrams.

I'd be guessing but it may be for the cruise control module, that I don't have. Thus being empty. Thanks Clubman and Lokiel
