Soft top defroster killswitch

Hi all,
I have a 1992 NA mx5 which looks to have been originally set up for a hardtop with defroster.
I've just bought an NB softtop with glass window and defroster and was wondering what I should do to make sure i don't accidentally run the defroaster with the roof down?
I've read some models had a cutoff switch for when the top was down. Has soneone here made something similar?

Why would it matter?

From memory, the ADM 1992-1993 NA6 were partially fitted for (but not with unless ordered) an HT, whereas the earlier NA6s weren't. So unless your NA6 rear demister plug has already been changed to allow a NB HT or ST demister pigtail to plug into it, it won't plug in - see here for details:
https://www.miata.net/garage/hardtop/If you wanted, you could always just unplug it when you put the ST down, assuming plugs have been or are changed to be compatible. There might also be something of interest here:

Dann - I've read that if you have the demister on when the soft top down it can melt your carpet onto the glass. The safety switch is idiot-proofing (which i need).
Thanks for the link clubman. I think my cam came with a hardtop originally - it has the hardtop latches which look to have seen some use. I know I'll need to make a pigtail to convert the NB demister to fit my NA plug, but I was hoping to see some creative switch set ups.

Vaguely recall mention of a safety switch, so NB might have had one. Don't recall seeing a retrofitted solution on here, but someone on the Big Forum is bound to have done it:

I just fitted a second hand soft top to my NBB. It appears to have a kill switch for the demister, which my factory top didn't. I can take photo if you want.
