Ms3 pro thoughts

So I know this topic has been covered before, but I currently have a adaptronic select for my nb8b, and I've been reading a bunch of stuff and am considering selling the select ecu and getting a megasquirt.
How much of a difference is it, is it worth selling my ecu for the megasquirt. I'm really up in the air at the moment, and have no idea what I should do
Just to add I don't tune my ecu, and my car is my daily drive/track every once in a while
Thanks

Simple - If it's running fine then keep it, especially since you don't do any of your own tweaking.
If it has a few issues, get it tuned by an Adaptronic+MX5 specialist.
ie. You're worrying over nothing.

I agree entirely!
You already have an non-OEM ecu, so it's alreadydoing at least 90% of whatever the megasquirt is going to do.
What is your reasoning for wanting to change ECU?

Ok thanks, I figured that was the case.

I wont even touch the adaptronic anymore unless Im begged by a person I know.
MS3 does what its supposed to, the documentation is clear, current and correct and the software actually works.
No way I could possibly recommend the ecu you have, Im sorry.

Hey dann, not sure if you have seen this before, but what do you think of getting the ms3 pro module board and connecting it to this
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/222410521296It says that once connected it would be a ms3 pro, though I'd be saving a few hundred
And That was the other reason I did want to get a megasquirt, I did want to take it to dann eventually to get tuned

A single extra hour of dyno time to fix or remedy something caused by abnormal hardware/firmware etc costs $150. Buy the pnp and rejoice in the correct outcome first go and the lack of headaches.

If you're happy with it as is, then leave it.
If you're not happy and if you can make to Dann's then go MS3, get a great tune and rock on.
If you're not happy, but can't get to Dann, get a Haltech and find a local tuner to give you a great tune and rock on.
Dann is really the only person I know of who will tune Megasquirt, so if you're not going to get into tuning yourself and you can't readily get to Dann, then don't get MS. For best results find a good local tuner and use the ECU he knows.

Well I put my adaptronic up for sale, I can get to danns, it is a bit of a drive because I'm from Sydney, though it's nothing that bad
At worst if no one wants it then i will just keep it, though I downloaded tunerstudio yesterday and I couldn't believe how much more it had in it compare to wari.
I do get what everyone is saying that my adaptronic will do most of what ms3 does, though I have been to two tuners already and the car just doesn't run right and at $500 a hit it is starting to become pretty expensive, that's why I'm thinking I should just cut my losses now, get the ms3 and get Dann to tune it, at least I know from this forum that he has a proven track record when it comes to mx5's

You're what, 2-3 hours away? I drove from Brisbane
Be prepared to leave your car with Dann for however long he needs it. The longer he has it, the better your tune.

Yeah I do know he needs the car for a little while, it makes sense, going to tuner and getting a car tuned in a couple hours will never give you the result you expect, unless you know how to tweak the tunes yourself, then you really need someone that will do that for you, where it doesn't just go onto a dyno and your done
I really would like to get it tuned by him, though if I can't sell the adaptronic then I will just continue getting tunes until I'm satisfied with the outcome, I can't really afford 2k on a ecu unless that one sells

That's what I call "frank's board" - It's what I run (and it's cheaper than they were 12 months ago!) - If you wanted to DIY the ever-loving stuffing out of the project, I'd say get this one. In fact, anyone wanting to DIY up an MS3Pro should do it this way, it fits in the OEM ECU Case and uses the OEM ECU Plugs.
But you don't want to DIY, so don't (It's an unbuilt, incomplete, electronics kit - there will be dragons) - Spend the extra coin on the PNP, it'll still be cheaper than paying a 3rd party to build and test the MS3Pro/Adapter.

The ecu you have is a great unit, it all comes down to tuner preference. If it works don't touch it! Spend your money elsewhere and if your tuner says they won't tune it, find another tuner!

I will give everyone a little tip, some tuners tend push a certain ecu brand because they build up a data base of tunes in there laptop, over enough time of tuning peoples cars, they start getting the same footprint cars on the dyno..... Injectors, turbo, manifold and fuel type.... click and whamo, 80% tuned in 5 mins
