When people write 'CAS' are they referring to camshaft or crankshaft ?
My downloaded Mazda workshop manual uses:
CMP - camshaft position sensor
CKP - crankshaft position sensor

Cheers

CAS = Crank Angle Sensor (ie. Crankshaft)

FYI: You can use http://www.acronymfinder.com/ to find just about any acronym - doesn't work too well for the MazdaSpeed Miata (MSM) though, luckily we call it an SE here in Australia.

I'd have said the opposite to lokiel, so be careful.

The whole nissan and toyota world uses CAS for cam.

Many have this habit.

Thanks for the replies. That acronym finder link shows both 'crank angle sensor' & 'cam angle sensor'.
I guess for an NB it could be one, or the other, or both!

I've always assumed CAS for CAM angle sensor, since that's by far the more commonly referred to one (in MX5 scenes)


In saying that, it's more a contextual thing

CAS = cam angle sensor, & usually on an NA.
On here, CPS may refer to cam position sensor or crank position sensor (which can be confusing), & usually on an NB.
