Front parker/indicator modification
Posted: Sun Feb 14, 2016 5:50 pm
The original NA6 indicator assembly had the turn signal and parker light separate, however when I replaced these with the 'smoke' assembly ones the bulbs used was a single dual filament amber globe. Further getting replacement globes is VERY difficult so instead of doing suspension setup changes on the car I decided to mod the indicator lights, fix why one was not flashing brightly and fix up a light alignment issue on the motorbike.
The right hand indicator has been flashing dimly for quite a while, there was the rapid flash that says that a globe is not working correctly. I replaced the flasher unit with a spare and no change so it looked like a ground/wiring issue towards the indicator.
So if I was going to find the fault I thought I would rewire them and install the small side globe as well as hook up the daytime light on the Jetstream headlights.
This is the left hand side prior to the modifications. Note the globe is quite bright and I need to find these dual filament ones or re wire to use a single filament amber globe (another day)

I missed a photo of the step before this as I drilled a small hole in the centre (you can just see it). Grind off the area where the plug will go. It needs to be flush with the existing body.

End result. The new amber bulbs are very dark, but will see what they are like at night and from a distance. This mod will make installing vented indicator ones a lot easier as I can just use the 'parkers' in the headlights. The light in the headlight is just from the daytime bulb.

Also fixed the headlight alignment on the Kawasaki so all in all a good weekend.
