Gauge Cluster Swap

Postby SLO_NA » Sat Jan 23, 2016 1:16 pm

Hi i recently broke by na6 cluster by accidently dropping it :cry:
So i sourced one with similiar km but it only goes up to 180km/h which means its from a :JDM: import
If i swap the 220km/h face from my old broken cluster will it still work properly?
Thanks! :D

Don't think so. The swept path of the needle is the same for both faces, so the JDM 180 face has a larger angle between the notched intervals.
The ADM faces on the JDM cluster will show you travelling faster than you really are, by a fair bit.

Why not just stay with the JDM faces?

If you have a great love for the Au cluster I believe the Speedo assembly on the NA ones is able to be separated from the rest of the cluster and swapped as a unit (not just the face, the mechanism behind it as well)

That way you can also keep an accurate odometer (not that it's hard to wind an NA one forward or back)

also check that the Jap one is able to dim with the control on the dash, Japanese cars apparently aren't required to have a dimmable cluster (unlike Aus) and so some of them arent able to be dimmed (I know for sure the NB8A ones don't dim)

Here's a good guide on swapping over a gauge cluster while retaining your existing mechanism to maintain an accurate odometer;
