Wiring Gauge for Sequential Injection Mod 1.6

Postby Dweezle » Sun Jul 05, 2015 9:51 am

Hi all,

My car is going to MRC tomorrow for a day of tuning and they have just asked for me to run the 2 extra wires through the firewall so they can change it to Full Sequential Injection.

Can someone please tell me what would be an acceptable Wire to run for this job?

Would something like a 10amp wire be the thing for the job?

I am very much a Noob with wiring.
I have been trying to find out the current drawn from injectors but am having no luck.
I have found people using 18Gauge for GM looms which i believe is roughly 1mm so i am thinking that the NARVA 1.13mm should be ok but would love to hear from someone more in the know!!

I just do not want this to be a issue down the track by burning out etc..

at a guess I'd have thought the draw would be pretty small, since the injectors are really just a tiny solenoid and don't need any real power.

A quick google suggested 2.5amps (Motec forum) but it wasnt clear if that was for a couple combined, or each individually.

I'd just ask the mob who are doing the install, means they get exactly what gauge wiring they want for the job.

Thanks mate.
Yeah i did ask them but they would not say a particular gauge.
Ive gone with 7.5 amp double insulated Twin Core which has run through quite nicely.

Hopefully it is fine for the job.

2.5A will be fine.
I'd also recommend getting multi-core wire (ie. twin-core in your case) instead, makes wiring tidier.
