I have a 1999 NB8A and want to fit the genuine Mazda fog light kit. Does anyone have a template for cutting the front bumper please?
Cheers, David

Does anyone have their early NB8A bumper off the car? If so could they please post a pic of the very small centre punch marks in the mold.
Apparently they show up on the bumper cover as LITTLE TINY bumps. They are spaced about 1/4" apart in an oval shape. At one apex of the oval (can't remember if it's the inside or outside edge) there are three very fine crosses that mark the location of the holes for the pins on the bezel.
Please email pics to

Not sure why you would really want to do it. Fog lamps are pretty useless unless people really are in really foggy areas. I cannot remember when I last used my units and it's illegal ,though probably not enforced, to use except in inclement conditions. ps marks on the back of mouldings are usually where the sprues are cut off or date codings.

Well then the answer's simple (in Morlock's world).... Take it to a dealership and have them do it!

Hey Dave I have some factory NB8B yellow fog lights if you need a set $100.00

Funnily enough I also have a really good NB8B bumper with a small bump as well for $200.00

I wish this was a straight bumper swap. Unfortunately it won't fit my NB8A without a lot of work.
Damn !!!!!!!

Well...at least this is my understanding anyway!
I know that I would have to upgrade my lights and wiring, and I believe that there are changes in the way the air flow is directed to the radiator.
Happy to be corrected of course.

To my knowledge the only change needed is to also use the NB8B headlights (and make the minor wiring changes for them)
Radiator airflow won't be changed, the undertray may not line up perfectly, but it's flexible plastic anyway so can be easily pulled and pushed where it needs to be (just hold it in place with black cable ties, they seem to hold better than the factory scrivets anyway)
I have seen the change done without changing headlights (so purely just a bumper swap)
it physically fits, but the headlight shape is just slightly different, so leaves a couple of gaps between the light and the bumper.

You'd need to check with someone who's done it (timk, Lightyear, Boyracer, probably a few others)
But it's fairly easy from what I remember reading
