GPS for the MX

I've had a Garmin 2460(5") for a few years and thinking of upgrading to a 2797LMT which is 7" unit. I want a unit that has Lifetime maps and the "Active Lane Guidance" which is an upgrade from "Lane Assist". Would a 7" unit be too big for an MX5?
Anyone purchased a 2797LMT?

Thoughts?
I have a bluetooth Head Unit which I stream spotify through from my phone. It also streams voice guided directions from my phone and pauses the music automatically.
There are times that I have needed the visuals though, but haven't used an aftermarket GPS since I delivered pizzas in a Toyota Camry. I assume that a GPS is a different animal now.

tomtom on iPhone in a tomtom charger/signal booster cradle on the fixed part of the driver's window. 12v power and connection to the head unit wired through the dash and door. Obviously it's a small screen but being so close it works great and doesn't restrict my vision. Seems to update maps and features each time the ios is updated
Alpine bluetooth head unit for phone calls with mic at the top of the A pillar. Works fine. I'm not sure whether I'm allowed to press the big "answer" button in the easy to see place on my phone or if present legislation requires me to fiddle about in the middle of the dash to find a much smaller non lit up button on the head unit?
