Open the bonnet.
To the right, near the air box you will see a small black box with a lid that pops open.
That is the diagnostic port.
Google will show you a bunch of things you can use it for with usually nothing more than a paperclip.
It is OBD1.
Only NB,s have OBD2 I believe.
Which is far more useful.

I've got one of these from when I had my skyline and thought it might be usable.
Might ask the manufacturer if it works with NBs

Only late NBs.
NB8A does not have it, and I think early NB8B didn't either (can't confirm that part)
I think the US market MX5s had ODBII much earlier (in the NA8 maybe?) but they also had a lot of other weird bits added to the NA like airbags and I think ABS.
