yesterday i installed a sandwhich plate with oil pressure and oil temp senders.

this is the type of plate

it all turns on and such but i am not receiving signals, oil temp shows dead cold and pressure is all the way UP.

now i was under the impression with npt threads you shouldnt tighten then more than half way down.

is it possible i am wrong and i need to screw the senders down more to immerse them in the oil?

Pic works for me. Site you have your electrical stuff correct? If your senders aren't leaking, the shouldn't need further tightening.

im pretty confidient that the wiring for the senders isnt to fault but if all else fails i will double check them.

i assume you mean earthing on the senders?

well i used loctite liquid sealant so that shouldnt cause an issue.

as for the electrical earth well that is fine.

wires cannot be backwards as one end has a plug.

Short your sender write to earth rather then attach it to the sender if see if the readings are the same or opposite?

Earthing looks a problem. You need good metal to metal contact between the plate and the engine and between the sender and the plate. Anodising and loctite won't help that. Test with a multimeter that you have good earth continuity from the engine to the sender body. You may need to rub off some anodising and replace loctite with copper-rich grease if it fails this earth test.

Also never ever use thread tape on sensor threads. That guarantees that they can't work.

ok so after some research im quite sure it must be the poor earth due to the sandwhich being anodized.

what would be the best way to ensure a solid earth?
