I have just purchased a mx5 for track work and need to source some camera mounts for bullet style cameras.

Any information regarding suppliers will be greatly appreciated.

Do you want a roll bar mount or a windscreen mount or outside the car?

What sort of mount does it have? A normal tripod mount, gopro, contour or Vbox?

Do you need to run power to it?

Do your bullet cams have a thread to secure them to a tripod / camera mount?

Not sure what mounting component your camera has (tripod screw type?)... but here's one that I use in both motorsport and when I go sailing.

But I've just started using GoPro Hero 3 for my racing activities and thus I use GoPro's own mounting hardware. But I still use RAM mounts for my sailing activities and they work extremely well.

The cameras have a thread in the back but i prefer to use a saddle type mount.

I need a rollbar mount and another to shoot thru the windcreen.

I prefer not to use suction mounts as i want to have them permanently mounted.

I've got the mx5 plus twin hoop roll bar. I mounted the gopro on a sticky mount to the top of the torque box of the roll bar but it's too far back and sees the back of the seats. So I used the extended mounts that you would use to mount it sideways, but had them straight to mount it up and forward. The view was good but shake of the camera on bumps made the footage unusable.

I'm interested to see what other people have done to mount the camera in car and what the view was.

You need a gopro roll bar mount. They are awesome, mine survived the rigours of karting (secured to my radiator cap!). Even had a guy drive over me once, camera survived.

I went out and bought the gopro roll bar mount.

It fits the tube size perfectly, however, as I have the twin tube roll bar, I can't get the camera into a position where it doesn't just see the back of the seats. Back to the drawing board..... Again.....

I thought about mounting it to the underside of the hard top, but then it's pointing at the rear view mirror and that's all it gets.

The position I had it in on the top of the torque tube with the extension pieces presents a good view, but the wobble is too much. I've ordered the GoPole but I don't hold high hopes for it not wobbling too. I'll grab a couple of photos of what I'm trying to achieve.

Which isn't too bad, sees a little more of the seats than I would like but is ok. Problem is that the combination of extensions to get it higher and forward are producing a shake in the camera that makes the footage unusable.

This is the view when using the roll bar mount. The problem is the seat is right in front of the tube so I've got nothing back there to mount to. I could keep adding extensions but the result is likely to be the same.... Wobble.

I need a magic wand.

Bottom bar I think is the better off the 2 but I have some bits coming from ebay to mount the camera a bit higher to show the road/track ahead.

I think we are trying to acheive the same thing. What have you ordered to lift it up a bit?

If you search ebay for "gopro aluminium" there's loads of different bits you can get.

On the Nb I mount my go pro with a tripod adaptor attached to a bolt through the hole between where the number plate brackets under the front bumper attach.
This is extremely solid, gives a great sense of speed and you can see the front splitter (and unnervingly how much it moves at speed)
