Dash loom compatibility

I am about to swap the cracked dash from my '90 Jap na with a '96 Jap na dash I got from mrpham. Can anyone save me some time by telling me if the wiring looms are interchangeable or will I have to go to the trouble of swapping the '90 loom into the '96 dash? I hope that makes sense.
Thanks

Not sure what the implications were for the dash loom, if any, but the ECU plug changed in August 1995 in Japan when the 16 bit ECU was introduced. Prior to this the same ECU plug was used from 1989 to 1995, although of course there were some wiring to ECU pin differences between the 1.6 & 1.8.

OK, Anyone who read my OP and didn't know the answer, I now do. The new dash is in and I took a punt & used the loom that came with it. Every thing works so guess what? They ARE compatible. I checked all the connectors first & they were all the same. Also compared the loom part numbers and they were the same except the 1990 loom's P/N ended in D, & the 1996 P/N ended in G. I don't know what the D or G mean, so again I took a punt. But the end result is, my dash is no longer cracked & everything works!!!! It didn't take that long either, about 6Hrs including breaks. Happy as a pig in sh*t. :D

I recently bought a dash from Lou (Boyracer) to do a swap for the same reason, cracks.

6hrs though.....not looking forward to it!

I need to customise my dash a bit more before the install though :D

P.S I've seen the PDF for the removal etc but do you have any extra useful tips?

I have never done it before, so I followed these instructions, http://www.miata.net/garage/DashRmv_89_93.pdf
They're spot on too. I just needed an extra pair of hands when lining up the bolts & refitting the steering column. Luckily my son was home. Other wise just follow the PDF.
Good luck.

If you take the steering wheel of the hub using the 6 bolts, the steering column can remain in place. Total change over should only take 2 hours or so.
