Which alternator do I need?

Hi all,

I'm looking to get rid of the factory ECU in my NB8a which I am currently running a piggy back Adaptronic off it.

I want to run a new stand alone Haltech ecu and to do so I need to get the early model alternator.

My question is which model alternator do I need?

Are the NA6 ones all the same ?

Thanks for taking tone to reply.

NA6 and NA8 are both internally regulated. You will need to do some fudging around if you want the alternator/ charge light to work. Just make sure you get one with the same number of ribs as the rest of your setup.

Alternatively, you can set up an external regulator and leave the original alternator.

Haltechs will run the NB8A alternator. Read the manual, or ask your tuner. If your tuner doesn't know, find another tuner.

Really ? I don't know much about the haltech yet ( I haven't bought it yet) .
I was just doing my usual half arsed research on the American forums and read a couple of posts about swapping to the older model alt to run stand alone ecu's .

Is there a thread about setting up an external reg that someone can link me too ? Or tell me which forum to search in.

Thanks heaps for taking time to reply.
