Swicth placement on NA8

Fellow forumnites,

I have just ordered and about to install JDM fog lights to my 97 NA8; but I have one dilemma.
The panel to the right of the steering column is fully occupied by the power mirror switch, demister switch for hard top and the insturment dimmer switch.

Does anyone have a novel and tasteful solution? I was thinking about the courtesy light panel to the left of the steering column as in the NA8's they are blanked off due the interior light being on the windscreen frame. The drawback here is the factory/OEM harness will not reach.

I also thought about adding an extra panel below the existing switches, but am unsure how that will go with knees at the like.

Thanks, J.

When was the last time you used the instrument dimmer switch? I have an NA8 but i don't have an instrument dimmer switch.. and maybe it's because I simply don't have the option of dimming/brightening the instrument panel that I find the intensity of the lights to be spot on

Suggestion: push the instrument dimmer switch in, cable-tie it to something else under the dash behind the two-screw plastic panel under the steering column (so you can still change it if necessary in approx 5-10mins) and then use the newly-created spare spot for the fog lights.

Yeah not a bad tip but I'm seriously thinking about putting it in the courtesy light blank and extening the OEM loom.

Can't recall a better alternative on here - might be something on the big forum: miata.net
