In my NB8a, I've noticed that with the ignition off, keys out, and the headlights accidentally (or otherwise) left on, if the passengers side door is opened then there is a beep.
But no beep when you open the drivers side door.

I've added some wiring to effectively switch the passenger and drivers side door switches around.

Does anyone else with an NB have a 'passenger side' headlight reminder? Or is it just me?

does your cabin light turn on when you open the driver's side door?

both door switches should share the same circuit - you may have a faulty switch.
