Red wire at base of antenna?

Postby emily_mx5 » Sat Dec 17, 2011 6:47 pm

Hi all, so I recently took all the trim out of my boot (fixing leaks).
The base of the antenna connects to a little silver box which connects to the black radio plug.
The little silver box has a thin red wire coming out of it, not attached to anything, its just floating around.
What is it for/should it be connected somewhere?
I have a NA6 (eunos)
Thanks :)

I didn't think NA6 had power aerial?? I think the box is oem, it has jap sticker on it and the plug is wrapped in that foam that all oem plugs are wrapped in.

Mt Aus delivered NA6 has no ABS, power steer or aircon but it has an OE power aerial and power windows. it's so reasuring that the luxurys were not missed .

No silver box or red wire in there though, are all your radio stations showing the actual frequency they broudcast on ?.

The little silver box is either an amplifier or a frequency shifter for Japanese radios.

Not with the original jap headunit, but I just changed to an australian clarion headunit and they are now.

That would explain why my reception is sh*t!!
Does anyone know if I can bypass the box??
Also, the red wire actually has a green stripe.

Have you tried giving the little siver box the flick and connecting the aerial wire directly into the antenna ?
