Hi there,

What mounting kits have people used on the NB8B to install an aftermarket head unit.

I was under the impression that the existing mounting from the stock unit would work though how wrong i was, also the unit is really small???

Im a bit disappointed as the whole point of spending the extra $ was to get a nice clean look with the double din............

Also have people installed aftermarket headunits and got the dash dimmer knob to work with head unit?? I am using iso adapter etc.......

thanks for the insight

Most units come with several mounting options.

My Pioneer Double-DIN unit came with 3 options and I tried all 3, finally settling on the "cage" option. The "cage" fits inside the cavity and has multiple tabs that you push/bend to ensure that the "cage" mounts firmly in the cavity. The head unit then slides into the cage and has 4 screws to fasten to the cage.

There is a vertical brace at the rear of the cavity with a hole in to support the head unit. My head unit had a "mounting knob" at the rear which slid into this slot. I've read on other forums where people's head units don't fit in all the way that they have had to remove this brace.

I haven't thought about dimming the head unit. The problem with hooking it up to the standard dimmer is that your unit wont illuminate unless you have your lights on. You'd need a separate dimmer switch.
