NB8A remote key fob issue

Postby Insurgence » Mon Oct 31, 2011 12:58 am

Hi everyone,

recently i changed the battery on my NB8A. afterwards the remote key fob stopped working.

i've tried the security alarm procedure involved to recode "without operational remotes", however i can't get the alarm to trip on battery reconnect!

e.g. after battery disconnect & reconnect it just opens the doors (instead of sounding the alarm)...

any ideas guys?

Regards.

Maybe backup battery in the alarm siren is flat?

Different symptoms, but backup battery info here:

Was this how you recoded the remote:
Alex wrote:I have the instructions to reprogram the remote
only thing is it's really really really long
like leave open door disconnect battery for certain amount of time
ignition on then off a certain amount of times
within certain amount of time after this turn on and off again a certain number of times
after vehicle lights flash certain number of times press a certain button on remote
turn ignition to on position
and your done
then
If Unsuccessful repeat above steps

in total you turn on and off ignition a minimum of 34 times
(didn't want to post up entire procedure)

Hi there,

The backup battery is definitely malfunctioning.

I'll try to fix it and see if that helps :)

Update for what it's worth (and those doing searches)

Couldn't start car after coming back from holidays.

Thought it was battery, but after changing that it turned out to just need the gas stepped on (who knows)...

Anyway in the process of charging the battery I left the car disconnected from battery over night and the alarm system works again now.

Wierd.
