I know it's been done before and it will be done again but I thought I'd document the build up of my COP setup.

I've already purchased my new Toyota COPx4 from ebay and have just received my J702T ignitor which I'm using to make the setup plug and play. Time permitting I hope to have it finished by next week and I'll post pictures as I work.

As you would know I plan on building these and selling them for cost price. Have you found a good cheap source of coils, or did you pay 80 buxks each at a wreckers like everyone else?

I paid about $120 for four new in box including connectors. The seller doesn't have any currently for sale but I could enquire if he will sell more?

I've already fixed that through tuning and fixing a noisy signal but it will surely help. 8)

Geez 120? What brand? ask him how much for 20 with pigtails please.

This will fix and spark issues. See page 5 in my thread, they can throw a 60mm long spark if you want. Ive got a pic of a very strong consistant 40mm spark on page 5. And of course with cops youll have 4 of these beauties.

It made such a big difference to my car, pushing spark through high compresion E85 and asking 2 coils to dwell at 8500rpm wasnt good.

This seller on ebay has two sets for sale atm $135
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/COP-Ignition-Coils-Kit-4AGE-Toyota-Corolla-Echo-Yaris-/140576312911?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20bb004e4f
Generic but new coils. More fool me if they don't work I guess...
The kit consists of...
4 x CoP Ignition Coils
4 x matching connectors for the coils
20 x connector terminals
20 x connector wire seals

The coils used in this kit match Toyota P/N 90919-02239 and are found on the 1ZZ-FE engine.

I just prised off the bottom plate on the ignitor. Seems to be filled with a sticky silicon, I imagine I'll need to desolder the board from the pins.

MUCH easier just to cut them off. And clean that gunk out thouroughly or youll have a LOT of difficulty soldering. Careful its all very fragile in there, your soldering to praactically aluminium foil.

Coil over plug. Idea is that more boogie is delivered when coil discharges directly into plug, avoiding leads etc.

I like your style.

Going to coil over plug you go from 2 coils and a set of leads, to 4 much more powerful coils attached directly to the spark plug.
View'nitrodanns long awaited garage thread' pages 1/2/3 and maybe 4(?) for a lot more detail discussion and photos.

Had a busy weekend, didn't get anything done on the wiring loom but installed a LED and reset switch for LC1's in two cars.

Ive done this conversion, make sure you clean those contacts throroughly that gunk is a bastard to get off. I used cotton bud with some wax/grease remover then soldered and used heat shrink, hasnt failed in over 6 months
