Speaker setup in NB

I'm just looking to add a couple of rear speakers rather than full on amp powered subs. I've seen a couple of people carve into the windblocker with 4" speakers, so I threw a couple (unmounted) in the back, but it doesn't make that much difference.

Others have stripped back the carpet and cut holes into the metal to mount 8" speakers, but I'm not a fan of this idea.

Are there any speaker boxes or something I can fix in between the windblocker and the rear window, with out it rubbing/causing problems putting the top down?

Seems some people mount 8" into the doors using spacers, are these easy to get hold of?

You could silicon a mini vibration speaker to a Perspex windblocker, it would be light weight have have a bigger surface area than a pair of 8" speakers, might sound like crap though.

I chose the cut up the shelf and put 2 x 8" speaker solution, this worked great until I ripped it out to put my rollbar in.

You dont need spacers to fit 8" speakers into NB doors, just remove the stock plastic speaker mounts and screw the 8" ones in. Both sets I've used even had mounting holes that lined up with mounting holes used by the stock speaker mounts.

thanks for the info and PMs. How did they 8" in the parcel shelf go with the top down?

They were great, anything less with the top down (and my stupidly loud exhaust) just wasn't up to task.

picked up 5x7 and poped them into the wind breaker, does the job nicely, but if you are after alot of bass then the 8" would be a much better option.

Sounds like a good solution, hope you can take some photos to share with the forum.
