How to run your own ECU check

Hey i found a thousand posts about it on the miata.net forum but they all just say connect the pins .. together with a paper clip theres like 20 PINS there! lol

Is there a simple way someone can explain to me how to run a quick self ecu check i believe it has something to do with checking the engine light etc..
??

drive to mx5mania, ask them to show you it only took them a couple of seconds to test mine at last service interval :)

Found this... http://www.miata.net/garage/faultcodes.html

After warming/running, your stop, then short GND and TEN and then turn the car on to ignition only. The "CHECK ENGINE" light flashes to report the code.

Simple enough really.... :shock:

Since yours has ODBII just find someone with an ODBII reader.

These are very cool but the iphone software is a little expensive

Except we didn't get a check engine light :D

You need to hook up an LED with current limiting resistor between B+ (straight from the battery, so will source lots of current if you wire it up wrong)and the FEN pin in the diagnostic box.
