headrest speaker installation

Now the headrest speakers are done, it's time for the headrests.... I have cut away enough foam for the 4" JVC's recommended by MXS5parts, only to discover that to get them in flush, I have gone all the way through to the metal in the headrest centre. I assume it would be bad for the magnets to be resting on the metal, so should I place a piece of hard plastic or another product between the magnet and metal? The speakers still push further forward than the old speakers, which is probably caused by having leather seats instead of the standard fabric seats.....?

All done..... Thin piece of foam trimmed to fit around the metal trim and keep the speaker off the metal.... Strangely, the same speaker fitted into the passenger seat without cutting any foam (just bent the tabs on one side of the speaker. Sounds much better with the horrible broken speakers out!
