NA6 - Turn headlights on. Oil Pressure gauge jumps

Hey all

Wondering if anyone could help me out here.

Ive noticed when i turn my headlights on the oil pressure jumps up and stays up slightly.
Not a huge issue i know but never used to notice this.

Also my headlights do not always pop up which seems to be a recent even also.
The lights always turn on but the actual headlights do not pop up maybe 1 out of 5 times.

Could this be a earth problem??
The 2 could be related or separate issues all together.

Any help much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

At first I thought that it may be simply the engine giving a quick rev to compensate for the extra load (albeit tiny), like turning on your AC, but when I popped my lights up and down the other night to see if mine does the same, the pressure gauge didn't move.

ask someone with similar vintage NA6 (as you know mine is NA8) to do a test.

Your idle speed seems a little low.

Yeah thanks Red. Will do.
Do the NA8's have a real oil pressure gauge like the na6? Or are they like the yank ones?

Its a little wierd. It actually affects the oil pressure gauge more when the rpms are up.

I will check my idle but at last check it was pretty spot on 800 with a tacho under the hood.

It also seems that for the first 30 mins or so the headlights will not pop up with the indicator stalk. The button with the hazards will pop them up and i can turn the lights on then.
Weird thing is usually after a bit of adrive they will come good again and can be controlled by the stalk. hmmmm

My (NA6) oil pressure gauge jumps around all over the place.

I suspect your indicator/lights switch is on the way out.
