My '93 NA LE has an alarm fitted. Don't know what brand, but this is the key, an RKU02:

I only have one key, which worries me. From the site it seems the remotes are $295 a pair. Does anyone have any experience with these - what is the alarm, is it good? It is now quite old technology, would I be better to get a new alarm fitted?
Thanks,
Tim

Re: Alarm
Having now spoken to the maker of the alarm, I understand that the system is as secure as any contemporary one and so worth keeping. The new keys are indeed $295 a pair. Better than not being able to start the damn thing I suppose.

Re: Alarm
i know nothing about the alarm in question so can't comment it's level of security, but also consider the possibility that the manufacturer is simply trying to sell you 2 expensive lumps of plastic.
you can buy an alarm meets/exceeds australian standards for ~$150 (excluding installation).

Re: Alarm
Yes, I did think there was an element of sales in it. However, the alarm does seem to be pretty good and includes central locking, immobiliser, switches on everything that opens etc. I know the actual alarm units are not that expensive, the fitting etc would probably take it over the cost of the two new keys - and without the attendant hassels of getting the old one removed and the new one fitted to give the same level of functionality.
Regards and thanks for the thoughts,
Tim
