[NC] Smart Top module for RC roof

Postby moz » Wed Jul 21, 2010 10:40 am

I've just fitted the Smart Top module so I no longer have to hold the button during the open/close cycles and it'll operate when on the move up to 60km/h. Other than testing it works on the move, I haven't been using for that, but simply for the fact of not having to hold the button during the cycle it's been worth every cent to me. Happy to admit that I'm very intolerant of stupid design and I DO find 24 seconds of button holding unacceptable.
So if you're thinking of fitting it, I can vouch that it works and is a 5min plug'n'play mod.

Installed one of these yesterday, took all of 10 minutes including checking for current firmware version.

Just need to get over this flu and take it for a test drive.

I have it set up to automatically drop the top when lever is opened and can be done at up to 40kph.

My one and only piece of constructive criticism it there should be a setting to permit the windows to drop all the way into the door.

there are heaps of 1 touch "open windows to the limit" modules. Install it seperatly and wire it to a switch (or.. in your case the lever) :)
the boxes are about $40 though .. look for "automatic window CLOSING module" and just wire it .. opposite :)

When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

Great mod, well worth the money. A bit of a pain in the ass to install if you have troubles getting the connector un-done from the ECU.

pretty funny- so impatient. I am sure the NB takes more that 25 seconds and the MG and Healey owners are envious - their tops can take a tea break to erect.

My NA soft top took under 5 seconds from the drivers seat when 'racing' patricks NC PRHT, including latches.

us old farts take a lot longer. Remove the half tonneau and fold it up and put it in the boot, unclip the latch ( latches not closed look untidy- don't they) fold the sun visors down, retract both windows slightly , close latches, reset visors, belt up and continue- buts its a doddle really.

Just ordered one of these for my 2009 NC, $322 incl. shipping. Hopefully it'll be compatible with the 2013 I'm planning to buy next year. Now just to find a way to silence the annoying beep when I drive for more than 2 seconds without my seatbelt on (I refuse to take orders from a machine! )
