Hi Guys,

I have 2001 NB8B & I’m having issue with both of my rear brake light.
They both decided to die yesterday.
I checked all the fuses (thanks Mike) and the bulbs and everything looks OK.

The rear indicator, light and even the third (boot) brake light is all working fine.

Any idea?

Check your brake light switch on the brake pedal.

Change the globes. May have simultaneously blown (can you swap one of the other globes over to check?)

I think Benny will be right. You can test with a test light or multimeter to see if you are getting power to the rear stop light filament/ terminal and pounds to peanuts you are not. You should also be able to test the brake light switch for power in and power out.

Thanks guys, I think it's the switch.
The Brake light globe is the same as the tailight globe, and they are workning just fine.

Wont be the switch if the HMSL is working as they all feed from the one source.

Bruce is on a winner with the bulbs. Not all that uncommon to blow 2 almost simultaneously

that is a good point about the HMSL being on the same circuit- makes sense . The bulbs are twin filament ie stop / tail - you can see if the filament is broken for stop light. I reckon both bulbs gone is very unlikely- but just maybe they did not fail together?? Checking for live wires should still be done with brake depressed.
