Battery Kill Switch

Hi all,

Partly to have something reasonably easy to do at the upcoming dodgy day, partly for security reasons and partly so I can replace the aircon switches with something else I'm planning to put a battery kill switch where the existing a/c knobs are.

I'm guessing there'd be a few people on here that have done this.

Looks reasonably straight forward even for a nuffy like me. Any tips and tricks, or recommendations on 'Ooh, I found X handy to have whilst doing mine' at all?

Cheers,

Pam

Hey Pam,

I looked into doing this about a year ago, but just never got around to installing one. It seems pretty straight forward to do on the MX5, and I found this step by step info very helpful.

Cheers
Ryan

Thanks Ryan! Looks good.

Come along to the dodgy day and install one too. (I should clarify that by saying that everyone needs one of those boys behind their tombstone. Radio? Bah. Have Korean boy, will travel.)

Does anyone's mex ever stop evolving? When/where is this modification madness going to end?

you can get lightweight battery that will fit in your giant sized hand bag

AAA size? Will that work?

Maybe if I include a mouse on an electic bicycle to aid it under heavy loads. A mouse that bites for the security bit.

most simple solution.
one end on terminal, other connects to cable.

will cost you about $10 or $20 or somethign, and take about 10mins to install.

Thats not a bad idea I know NB8B can dead lock a boot when you lock the boot with your key.

NB8A can as well.

and it would be simple to do on an NA too, just remove/cut the release cable going to the cabin release, the only problem is you would need to use the key every time.

only problem killing the power all together is your radio stations will never be stored after killing the battery which is pretty annoying..

No mods needed... if you lock the boot with the key instead of the remote then turn the key the other way its dead locked so even if your in the car you can press the boot release leaver...

BTW there are 2.5 kg battery covered in CF nice hand bag accessory I want to do GB on them if anyone is interested...

Dont worry about the radio you remove the radio every time you go to track anyway...
