Amp Placement

So ive finially decided to upgrade the speakers in the 5

i bought some JL audio 6.5in splits (great sound for the 400 i paid, these retail at 799), and a Kicker 2 Chanel Amp.

Now the ideal place for the amp would be behind the passenger seat about half way up the firewall. That way the seat base can still go right back just with the recline a tad more upright. I tend to use my boot a fair bit and fill it right up, so id like to keep the boot space free.

I assume there are several people on here with the amp mounted in the said position. My main concern would be heat from the amp. Do you think there would be enough air circulation around the amp to stop it from overheating? How have other people come across this?
The amp wont be running at full power and also wont be powering a sub.

Any comments.

Cheers in advance

if you're not going to run it at full power heat will never be a problem. mine is behind the driver's seat and only gets warm (~40C), never hot.

I'm assuming NA/NB, in which case this should help.

I've currently got the brain box for my head unit mounted there and have no problems with it. When it first went in I made sure the seat back never touched it and checked it by hand every other drive, saw no problems with heat so pushed the seat all the way back. Continued monitoring it for about a fortnight and it seemed fine so I left it alone. Has been like that for 6-9months now and hasn't caused any concern.

Long story short, I wouldn't worry about it.

Hey, that's my amp setup in the thread Jeo referenced. Just chiming in to say its been there a month now and I've had no heat issues at all.

Just be careful with the install and you'll be fine. Best of luck!

True true, but when you put it back in, I imagine Wun feels a disturbance in the force...
