Hi,
I've got an NA6 with cruise control - which doesn't work.
Basically, pressing the button on the dash means nothing!
No dash lights come on when I press the button, so its like the whole Cruise Control system doesn't activate.
Apparantly there is a control module in the drivers side footwell for the cruise control? I've had a poke around but can't find anything that seems to fit the bill.
Any suggestions on what I should be looking for to get it working?
Cheers,
Brendan

Follow the wires from the switch and see where they go to. There is a 99.999999% chance that it's an aftermarket jobbie as there were no factory cruise control options on the NA in Australia. If you can find the module then chase the wires back to look for a fuse and check to see if it's blown. If you find the module you may find a brand name and with some searching may be able to find a trouble shooting guide/wiring diagram on line.
My CC module is mounted just next to the fuse box in the drivers side footwell. It's just a black plastic box a bit bigger than a cigarette packet with wires coming out of it. Some CC's have the control box integrated into the actuator mounted under the bonnet.
They use fairly basic electrical connections, just a power wire, earth wire, vehicle speed sensor wire, clutch switch, brake switch and actuator controller. If you have power at the main fuse then there could be a problem with the clutch or brake switch or the actuator may be disconnected.

Garry, thanks for your reply...
The switch looks genuine and fits in the dash beside the button that controls the brightness of the dash lights.
I tried tracing the cables from the switch but it ended up difficult to follow, its a jungle under the dash!
I might have a look at the CC module in the engine pay, perhaps there's some wiring in that which will be usefull...
Cheers,
Brendan

I guess it's a grey import then. No AUS delivered NA's had a factory fitted CC. If it is factory then there should be some Mazda documentation somewhere helping you troubleshoot. Try having a look on the US miatanet site for some tips

After some digging around, I've come to the decision the cruise control was retro fitted to the car or something...
It looks far too conveniently original to be an aftermarket system, but it also has the look of being added in after production.
None the less, I pulled it all out and saved myself some weight!
