Microtech tacho HELP!!!!

Hi all,

Can anyone help me in wiring up the tacho with the Microtech LT8.

I don't know if the tacho has ever worked in Scooter.

I've checked input voltage to tacho at the back of the dash and it has 12volts going in, Don't know if this voltage is correct.

It could be just that the tacho itself is stuffed, it does have a slight burnt smell but this could be from all the dust in behind the dash unit.

I've tried the wiring diagrams at the Microtech site but their not very clear, so any help would be appreciated.

Terry

Thanks Gerard
Actually managed to get one from a mate down south.

Has anybody in Brissy have a workshop manual for a NA6 that I could have a gander at please.

I've tested voltage at the tacho and have found Battery voltage at ign input, good earth but I've also got battery voltage at the signal input, this doesn't make sense to me so I'll need the resistance values to try and sort out the problems.

I'm hoping like sh8t that the unit itself isn't burnt out even though with low battery voltage the tacho did move when I tried to start.

So if you can help would be appreciated.

Thanks Jaron,

Problem solved by a mate down south Roy the Boy, he asked what ign system the car had and straight away could tell me what the problem was!!

Seems with the two coil setup, you test the tacho input with a ossicilope to check wave frquency. Testing with a multimeter just won't work.

RtB runs a race team down in Sidders Bramsters Motor sport, runs 2 GTR and a Starlet, what he doesn't know about electronics and how to set them up and diagnose them isn't worth knowing. Also has a great relationship with a lot of the top tuners around.

A great bloke who is always available to give advise to his best mate (ME). Best part is he is coming up north soon to help a certain bloke with his MX5, should get the beast on the track a lot earlier
