hmm, water always gets into the doors, you could make up a cover for them so the water runs way from the magnets
or get marine speakers so they don't corrode

Most aftermarket speakers that I have bought in the past have come with a plastic half dome. This covers the upper half of the speaker and keeps water off the speaker cone/magnet. Did you have these on the speakers in question?

When I was using the Phillips speakers I made up a cover over the top half of the speaker to direct water away. My Clearwaters came with a plastic cup that fitted over the back of the speakers.

As far as i remember the mx5 has a surround which already covers half the speaker, but not the magnet, maybe this can be modified, dont know if its model dependant?

Lino and duct tape. They dont call me dodgy for nothing.
Sorry, no pics. I cut the lino into a rectangle that wrapped half way around the circumference of the speaker and was the same depth as the speaker. Taped it on with the tape and fitted the speaker back into the door. It worked well for the 2 years or so I used the speakers, stayed attached to the speaker, didn't vibrate and most importantly kept them dry.
