Ok, so i'm trying to get the FM 02 clamp installed and need to wire into the ECU harness.
ECU is not under the drivers side dash like the Americans, its not under the glovebox, is it under the passenger footwell metal plate?? :?

i'm pretty sure it's under that metal plate in the passenger footwell.

Here is a shot of the metal plate in the footwell, starting removing the screws that hold it down, then came across two strange looking fasteners? They look like rivets of some sort?

How are you meant to remove the plate to get to the ECU with these things holding it down??

Mazda put them there to stop you removing the ECU and playing with their fabulous tune under warranty.

I also want to fit an O2 Mod. (Olderguy in US)
I didnt have an angle grinder so I drilled them off!
(and bashed with a cold chizel!)
Watch the very sharp edges of the plate , I am a bleeder!.
Still havent fitted O2 though, because I dont have an accurate wiring diagram.
No idea which wires to splice into.
The diagram from FM doesnt quite match mine.

So O2 is sitting on bench until I can find out how to wire up.
I have run the vacuum line down there ready to go.

I've used those bolts to secure machinery cover plates in special situations (requirement for electrical separation in some smelter plants)...

You just torque them to spec (10mm hex head) then a sharp blow to the ratchet will snap the head off (the hex head tapers in towards the centre that you've shown like a top).

Either use a dremel and cut a slit in them, a flat head screwdriver will remove them, or use vice grips and spin them off. If they're too tight, you will have to drill them off.

As for the o2 signal modifier, isn't it just spliced in series with your o2 wire, then +12V and gnd? I thought its purpose was to hold a certain voltage (relative to AFR) so your ecu doesn't pull fuel (from it running rich on boost tip in)

Garry, agreed it is a fabulous tune if you intent on keeping your car stock forever! :) p.s. My SE is no longer under warranty, I was a very patient boy and didn't touch it apart from an aftermarket system religiously until the warranty ran out, so it's now on for young and old!

Sliq, that was my exact response when I saw them! lol

Minx, its exactly as ampz says, plenty of documentation on 'mazda-speed.com' as well in regards to fitment and from all accounts seems to transform the car and make it run like it should have from factory without that flat spot up till 5000rpm making it smoother throughout the rev-range with a much more useable power band :)

The only downside is the redline hard cut at 6500 rpm
If i had one a piggyback would go in (who am I kidding? i can't afford one, let alone the piggyback  )
I've tried to persuade Mr Q in letting me loose on his SE, but the looks he gave me could bring snow in Fiji   :| :(

MINX, i'd be more than happy to take pics/document my install to see if it can aid yours.

Some reading that might be helpful in the meantime:

They look like aluminium rivets to me. There is a type which I have which you set and then drive the stem in which in turn opens a locking feature and holds the rivet in place. There is also the chance they are break stem rivets which shear after setting flush with the head.In any event I would guess you simply drill the mandel out and remove.
