battery question...(pulse batteries)...and charger question

Been reading through some of the battery threads trying to nut out a good battery and the mid concensus seems to be the Pulse battery (at least it seems to have copped the least flak from both the low end to high end batteries mentioned).

Anyway as my current battery is on it's last legs I'm looking at grabbing the PHB400 through autobarn (for $219...yes the price has increased compared to some prices I've seen for this). Was wondering though would the PHB650 fit as well? (L = 171, W = 181, H = 150) price $279. Unsure of actual dimension for the tray on the NA 1.6 (not at home in Bendigo this week so can't run from melb to bendigo to measure).

I'm more of a weekend driver so it's the only time I get to drive it, so would hope of the two batteries one would be better with long standing periods.

Yes I'll be investing in a trickle charger soon due to my use. But as a side thought, would a solar battery charger do the same kind of job (like the ones that sit in the cig lighter socket and on the dash)?

Cheers MX5 peoples.

eh? :roll: I don't recall anyone putting down the much cheaper Supercharge/Motoline Gold ones.... :roll:

but regardless of what battery you choose, the dimensions of the OEM panasonic is:
Height = 160mm
Width = 125mm (top-edge), 120mm (bottom-edge)
Length = 234mm

$99 Supercrank or Supercharge FTW. Small, cheap, no fumes, powerful. I've left mine for 4 weeks with the immobiliser on with no noticeable loss of power. Can't see the need for a trickle charger with one of those.

Where do I find these supercharge batteries? I've asked Autobarn about these and they've never heard of them.

Supercharge are pretty common. Ask Repco?

www.supercharge.com.au

call 1300 BATTERY for your nearest dealer location.

Mine is now four years old and still perfect - best bang for battery buck IMHO. :D

Thanks for the heads up on the supercharge. Found an auto repair joint in Bendigo that sells them through the supercharge number. For $98 I can't really complain. So grabbing one next week (MF40B20D).

Thanks again.
